January is an awful month for a birthday and in our family we have three of them...my dad, my grandmother, and Danny. Danny always gets ripped off on his birthday because it sneaks up right after Christmas. Several years ago we started a tradition with some great friends (really more like family) going to Gatlinburg every year for the MLK weekend. This was a great solution to my dilemma of how to celebrate Danny's birthday. We thought about going again this year, but the thought of everything I would need to pack for a six month old for just a few short days away made us decide that next year was probably a better option for us. So, the gameplan was for my mom and dad to keep Brody overnight and we would head to Atlanta for a date night. Well, both my parents became VERY sick this week so that idea wasn't going to work. Then, we get the biggest snow our state has seen since 1993 and everything comes to a standstill. Really, the best present we had this week was that Danny was off for 5 days in a row...

On Friday morning, I woke up and felt so bad that we weren't doing anything for Danny's birthday so I called a few friends and some family and organized a pizza and cake get together at the last minute. We had a lot of fun playing with the kids and once Brody was in bed, playing Scategories- my favorite game! All in all, Danny had a pretty good birthday and we look forward to celebrating in the mountains next year!
Happy Birthday, Daddy! We love you so very much and are thankful for everything you do for us!!!
