When we first got married, we thought the wise (ha!) thing to do would be to invest in a townhouse -the payment being about the same as what rent would have been- and sell it as soon as we both finished school and were ready to start a family. We bought the house in 2003 and first put in on the market in 2006 when we found a house that we just had to have. Then...the real estate market crashed. We were very disappointed that we didn't get the house and left ours on the market for two years at a price below what we owed on it with virtually no hits. We decided to just take it off the market and look again at a later date once the market picked back up. We still looked at houses for sale often, but really didn't think too much about moving. About a month ago, some friends approached us about possibly buying our house and the wheels started spinning again for us. We began looking at houses a little more seriously and found some great deals. To make a long story short, our friends decided against our house but in the meantime we got serious about the possibility of renting our townhouse if we found a deal we just couldn't pass up. We found a house that we loved and it was at a GREAT price! It is in the part of town that we wanted, the number of bedrooms we wanted, the floorplan we desired, and as a bonus two sweet couples we are friends with live in the same neighborhood. We prayed about it and really felt God leading us to make an offer. We specifically prayed that if this was not His desire for us that all the doors be slammed shut in our face. We had planned on making an offer on Wednesday, but the paperwork didn't come in on time, so we postponed it until Thursday. We got a call Thursday morning saying that the price had been dropped- God's timing is always so much better than ours. They accepted our offer yesterday and we our set to close in late February. There are still plenty of things that could happen between now and then with inspections and such, but more than likely we will be moving soon. If it doesn't work out, then we will be okay with it- a first for us :) because we have truly put it all in God's hands. If this is the house He wants for us, it will happen. The fun now begins of finding a renter and we are praying hard for a great one because we LOVE our neighbors and want them to have someone great living next to them. Looking back and seeing how God worked all the details out is just amazing- He has done great things for us and whether we close on this house or not, we will praise him!
